Salceda Blames Pokemon GO For Metro Manila Traffic

Salceda Blames Pokemon GO – Albay Congressman Joey Salceda blames the augmented-reality game Pokemon GO for worsening the traffic situation in Metro Manila.

Salceda Blames Pokemon GO

According to him, Pokemon Go players riding in their cars must be blamed for causing the traffic as they are slowing down in lanes in order to catch a Pokemon.

‘Dahan-dahan, may Pikachu dito. Itabi mo sandali, may Lures dito.’(Slow down, there’s a Pikachu, pull over here, there are lures here),” the lamenting solon said in Inquirer.

“If you are rich enough to maintain a private car, you must be rich enough to (afford for) yourself and your kids an Android, iPad or iPhone. Multiply that by the 2.5 million cars in Metro Manila,” he added.

Salceda also compared and pointed out that compared to the 2.5 million private vehicles in Metro Manila, there are only 3,300 provincial buses, 1,500 of which were from Bicol region.

According to him, the number itself is incomparable to the number of cars congested in Metro Manila.

“Why pick on our pobreng provincianos to solve Metro Manila traffic? Pokemon-playing is a greater aggravation of Metro Manila traffic,” Salceda said.

Salceda said that the volume of vehicles needed to carry people in and out Manila will grow 10 times.

He explained that while each bus can transport 50 passengers and cars normally carries 5, Salceda said that the authorities will be opting to add 30,000 more cars in EDSA.

He lamented that the said decision by the authorities is an “anti-poor move” because Filipinos prefer riding a bus in order to have a more affordable fare from Php450 to Php750 compared to plane fares that amounts not less than Php3,000.

Another thing is that it might affect the local tourism from provinces like Bicol as these provincianos carry heavy baggage going to Metro Manila.
