Phenomenal comedian and one of the country’s most popular TV host and celebrity Vice Ganda was forced to cancel is performance at the DU31 Victory Party in Davao City due to heavy rains and power outage at Davao City’s Crocodile Park on Saturday night June 4, 2016.
Vice Ganda took to social media through his official Twitter account about his postponed performance at the victory party in celebration of Mayor Duterte’s victory as the incoming president of the Republic of the Philippines.
On Twitter Vice Ganda tweeted: “Nakakaiyak! Hindi man nakapag-perform dahil sumabog ang kuryente okay lang. Sapat na sa akin ang nagkita-kita tayo, nagkawayan at nagkamayan,” Vice Ganda wrote on his Twitter account.
The It’s Showtime host also posted a photo of himself waving at the rain-drenched crowd attending the victory party in Davao City and wrote a caption on his post “I love Davao!”
The box office comedian who is a known supporter of Mayor Rody Duterte arrived at the Davao City airport at night and immediately headed to the venue at the Crocodile Park where more than 500,000 people gathered. Based upon earlier estimates more than 200,000 people attended the event the police authorities later on announced the figures already reached more than 500,000.
Vice Ganda confirmed in an earlier interview that he was so excited to join the victory party of Mayor Duterte dubbed “DU31: One Love, One Nation Thanksgiving Party.” He was quoted as saying “Kaya masaya ako kasi hindi lang naman ito celebration ng victory ni Mayor Duterte, celebration din ito noong hope ng 16 million na katao na naghahangad ng isang malaking pagbabago sa Pilipinas,” he explained.
Before the victory party of Mayor Rody Duterte which started as early as 8:00 AM in the morning thousands of people started gathering the venue to get a closer look at the stage while some of the country’s most prominent news media company were not allowed to set up their gadgets inside the venue because they were not allowed inside, for the event will be exclusively covered by RTVM and PTV4.
Davao City Mayor Duterte, himself, was able to deliver his speech. His youngest son, Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, also managed to address the crowd before the power outage.
