Mayor Junjun Binay’s Income Don’t Match Bank Deals

Following the freeze order issued by the Court of Appeals (CA), Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) has flagged Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay’s five bank accounts.

Binay took over as Makati Mayor in 2010 while his father was elected as Vice President.

Both, with other Makati officials and alleged dummies are facing graft charges before the Ombudsman and months-long Senate probe of alleged corruptions in the city.

The mayor and his father were accused of profiting from construction of the Makati City Hall Building 2 and the Makati Science High School Building.

The AMLC noted in the court First Division’s May 11 resolution that the mayor had 5 bank accounts where “at least 78 large transactions and five notable transactions” were made within April 2, 2003 to January 8, 2015.

The appeal of AMLC was earlier noted by the CA freezing 242 accounts including those of the younger Binay under BDO, Metrobank Sta. Ana, BPI, Union Bank of the Philippines-Makati Medical, and United Coconut Planters Bank.

CA’s resolution says Junjun Binay’s bank transactions are ‘disproportionate’ to his net wort.
