Jayson Castro (William) was named as one of the top five players in Asia in the recently concluded FIBA Asia 2013 as he was named as a member of the All-Star Five.
The Talk ‘N Text point guard made his first appearance in a high-level Asian competition but he showed the heart of a true Filipino fighter. He joined prominent Asian stars Kim Mingoo of South Korea, Lin Chih-Chieh of Chinese Taipei, and Oshin Sahakiah and Hamed Haddadi of Iran as FIBA Asia top performers.
The FIBA Asia 2013 named the 7-foot-2 former NBA center and Hamed Haddadi was named as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for the 27th edition of Asia’s most prestigious basketball tournament.
For Jayson Castro’s part he averaged with 11 points in nine games for the Philippine team, Gilas Pilipinas. He was also brilliant in the last two games for the host team scoring 17 points in the semi-final victory over South Korea and 18 points in the gold medal game against Iran.
