Michael de Mesa clarifies something about Cherie Gil’s remains
Veteran actor Michael de Mesa addressed an article about her sister Cherie Gil‘s remains being “buried” in Bukidnon.
Cherie’s death was devastating for many people in the entertainment industry, as well as for her fans who have supported her career over the years. Her family shared stories about her life and death. Tributes also poured in for Cherie. Her niece Max Eigenmann even dedicated her Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival Best Actress award to her.
A month after her death, the Gil-Eigenmann clan gathered together and they celebrated the life of the late actress. In a recent social media post, Michael clarified something about Cherie Gil’s remains.
His clarification was prompted by what he saw in an Inquirer report saying that Cherie Gil was buried in Bukidnon. Previously, it was revealed that Bukidnon is the late actress’s favorite place and she really enjoyed her time while being there.
“Cherie was cremated in New York. Most of her remains are with our other sister, Elaine, in California. Part of her is with my parents who are also in California and some are here with my wife and I,” the veteran actor said.
Michael stressed that Cherie Gil’s ashes were scattered in Bukidnon but this does not mean that she was buried there. The actor also said that what the news outlet saw was just a memorial to remember Cherie.
In the caption of his post, he also said, “I forgot to mention that Cherie is also with her children.” The said that he felt the need to clarify this because of misinformation! Many netizens who commented on this post of Michael de Mesa shared red or white heart emojis. There were also those who thanked him for clarifying this matter.
