57 Customers Suffer Food Poisoning After Allegedly Eating Shawarma from Bulacan Mall

Around 57 customers suffered from fever, vomiting and diarrhea after allegedly eating shawarma at a stall in Bulacan.

In Marilao, Bulacan, about 57 customers allegedly suffered from food poisoning after eating a shawarma at a stall inside the mall. The victims experienced fever, vomiting and diarrhea.

The victims reported the incident to the barangay but of them have been hospitalized and received immediate treatment and medication. The customers acquired amoebiasis, according to the lab results.

The affected residents were urging the franchise owner to shoulder the amount spent by the victims for the hospital bills and expenses. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find the store owner anymore.

The franchise representative and the complainants were set to meet to discuss the incident at the barangay hall on Thursday (May 27, 2021).

The Department of Health also informed the public to store the foods in a cool dry place because the hot weather condition increases the rate of food spoilage. The agency also listed the food poisoning symptoms such as stomachache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever.
