This is how Jericho Rosales handled being mocked for speaking English
Award-winning actor Jericho Rosales revealed that he received mocking in the past for trying to speak English and this was his reaction to this.
Jericho admitted that he wants to study filmmaking and directing if he is given a chance to go back to school. In the past, he wanted to pursue a business course but his line of work in the entertainment industry would possibly lead him to a filmmaking course.
Because his career became his priority after winning Eat Bulaga‘s Mr. Pogi in 1996, Jericho needed to set aside his studies, based on the article in PEP. However, the actor said that he is not embarrassed if he needs to ask for other people’s help.
“I think one ability na na-develop ko before was to never be embarrassed if you’re asking something na you don’t know. Like, ‘What’s the meaning of this? Anong salita ito sa Ingles? Anong ibig sabihin niyan, hindi ko po maintindihan?'” he shared.
Despite having Google to consult about certain things that he does not know or understand, Jericho Rosales said that most of the time he would ask his wife Kim Jones. The actor added that his wife never gets tired of teaching him.
For Jericho, being born in a poor family urged him to find ways in order to learn things that he must learn. He also recalled that in the past, he was being mocked for trying to speak English.
“Even before, people were laughing at me, ‘English nang English si Jericho,’ ‘English nang English mukha namang ganito or ganyan.’ It hurt,” the actor said. However, he pointed out that since nobody will teach him, he had to learn on his own.
With his determination without minding the mocking that he received, Jericho Rosales learned.
