And now, in Toni Talks, a vlog segment of Toni Gonzaga, the comedienne reveals her story being a mom of a teenager with autism. Her former husband left her in just less than a month after giving birth and just a little over a year old of their child, she noticed the unconventional differences Quentin showed compared to other normal children of his age.

He was diagnosed with autism at a young age and having a child with special needs did not only taught her to be strong but she was also able to recognize the potential in her. She then told the story she has when she made Quentin attend school. They stayed in kinder thrice and when he finally graduated, she found herself helpless when the school’s principal pulled out her son from the line during the practice.

Confronting the head of the school, she was told that they may never know when his next attack would be and such an episode of the child is something that’s “nakakahiya” during the event. She pleads to the principal but her plea wasn’t heard. Her son was not able to make it to the event but a mother’s love is far greater than anyone could have ever imagined.

Wanting her child to experience he is deserving to experience, she made a way. In a venue, they held his graduation with people from their church as their guests and him as the only student. She confessed to Toni, “Gumawa ako ng sariling graduation sa plaza… Kami-kami lang.”

She then added, “Ang tingin ko all parents, all mothers who go through that siguro gagawa din swila ng paraan to rise above it. Because I think all mothers…” Toni interrupted in tears, “…want the best for their kids.”
