Photos of Giant Sun Fish Discovered in Davao Oriental
A giant sun fish has been discovered by the residents of Brgy. Maputi at the town of Banaybanay in the province of Davao Oriental.
On Friday (November 27, 2020), the residents of Brgy. Maputi Banaybanay, Davao Oriental found a giant sun fish in the shallow waters along the coastal area. The sea creature is injured after it was caught on the fisherman’s net.
A netizen named Glenn Amoguis has shared the photos of giant sea creature. The residents went near the coastal area after seeing the huge fish after it was entangle on fishnet. Unfortunately, the fish eventually died.
In one of the photos, it can be seen that a kid is sitting atop of the dead sun fish but Glenn immediately scolded the kid. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has already took the fish.
The environmentalist and marine biologist Darrell Blatchley that the sun fish is biggest found along Davao Gulf. He also advised the public not to hurt and immediately return marine species into the ocean.

“If it was alive, it should have been immediately released and not stepped on or sat on. It shows the complete lack of empathy of the locals to an animal treating it this way,” Blatchley said.
