STAR MAGIC – head and director of Star Magic, Johnny Manahan, says they are in talks to rival stations to find job for their talents.

In a previous article, the employees of the network are now allowed to work with other television networks after the House Franchise Committee voted to reject the franchise of the ABS-CBN network. Following the shut down of the network, its affiliates, TV Plus and SKY Direct, were also sent cease and desist order from the National Telecommunications Commission issued on June 30.

And now, with some Kapamilya stars now appearing in their rival stations, Star Magic head and director Johnny Manahan says they are now in talks with rivals such as Channel 5 (TV5) and Channel 7 (GMA 7). They are now open for their talents to go to other networks.

As their revenues dried up since the close down, with several projects cancelled and contracts got suspended, he shared as per Rappler, “…We began to look elsewhere for opportunities for our artists. Talks are currently underway with contacts from Channel 5 (TV5) and Channel 7 (GMA 7).”

Their artists are now free to transfer to other network. Ria Atayde will appear in new show Rise and Shine as host while actors Jerome Ponce, Ronnie Alonte, and Jameson Blake will be in Fill In the Bank.

Now, despite the challenges of the network is facing right now, the talent arm of the Kapamilya network will stick to its main purpose: “to seek out work for our artists wherever we can find it and to care for their body and soul. We have told them that their professional lives do not end with the franchise fiasco.”
