According to ABS-CBN News, this followed after the agency released a new directive to allow married couples or people living in the same residence to ride motorcycles without barriers.

DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said that the barriers can be used if the ones riding the motorcycle are those who are relatives but live in different residences.

“Hindi po talaga sayang ‘yang barrier na ‘yan kasi po yan ay implementasyon lamang noong ating physical distancing rules,”

The barrier will also be used if passengers are not authorized persons outside residence.

The IATF primarily allowed the use of acrylic barrier to those riding motorcycles in order to observe physical distancing to fight against coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

Based on the report, the government made a decision on Tuesday that motorcycle barriers are not necessary for those living in the same residence who use motorcycles as their transportation.

This received harsh criticism from those who purchased the barriers when the Inter-agency Task Force initially ordered them to implement the barrier policy before travelling.
