Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano Speaks on Sen. Ping Lacson’s Lead of Flood Control Investigation
ALAN PETER CAYETANO – The former Senate President claimed that Senator Ping Lacson is allegedly good in whitewashing.
With 13 votes, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian who was previously elected as Senate President Pro Tempore was formally chosen as Senate president on June 17. Former Senate president and minority leader Tito Sotto was elected Senate president pro tempore, while Sen. Juan Miguel “Migz Zubiri”, also a former Senate president, returned as majority floor leader.

The election of Gatchalian as Senate chief came after a tight leadership feud with former Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano who conceded as Senate president shortly before Gatchalian’s election. Two (2) members of the Cayetano bloc decided to join the Gatchalian bloc.
Soon after the Senate leadership change was formalized, Sen. Ping Lacson criticized the leadership of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetan. In a social media post, Lacson alleged that the chamber supposedly spent around ₱700 million in just 28 days under Cayetano’s watch which allegedly resulted to ‘chaos’.

Sen. Ping Lacson remarked that Cayetano’s leadership is allegedly a misuse of taxpayer money. He cited the controversy that took place under the former Senate leadership:
“THE PHILIPPINE SENATE in 28 days under Alan Peter Cayetano: Estimated Cost – P700M. Output – chaos, gunfire, Bato’s escape despite ICC-issued warrant while under its “protective custody”, session boycott, failed destabilization attempt, unauthorized committee hearings highlighted by one not presided nor attended by a single senator,” Lacson wrote in a post on social media.

Recently, former Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano hit back at Sen. Ping Lacson. Based on News5, the former Senate Chief claimed that Lacson allegedly controlled the direction of the Blue Ribbon Committee’s flood control investigation.
“During the time of Sen. Lacson, kaisa-isa siyang chairman na obvious na obvious dini-determine ang direction ng committee. Siya na ang nagtuturo kung sino ang guilty o hindi papunta sa DOJ, papunta sa Ombudsman. ‘Di ba? Parang nagpapasahan,” Cayetano said.
Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano who was chosen as the Senate minority leader claimed that Sen. Ping Lacson is allegedly good in whitewashing. He even jested on his claim against his fellow Senator.
“So very very clear ‘yun. So kung gusto niyo ng pampaputi, punta kayo kay Sen. Lacson kasi magaling mag-whitewash baka may ano ‘yan, pampaputi,” the former Senate President said based on the post.

According to former Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Ping Lacson is comparing him with other Senate presidents so he will also compare him as chairman of the Blue Ribbon Committee. The former Senate Chief compared his fellow Senator with former Blue Ribbon chairman and former Sen. Richard Gordon.
“Gordon was always open. Anyone can ask questions. ‘Pag sinabi mong-iinvite ‘to, iinvite… Wala namang reklamo ‘nung ako naging chairman ng Blue Ribbon,” Cayetano claimed.
Previously, after 2 senators from his bloc joined the new majority bloc, former Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano claimed that the majority senators allegedly wanted to oust him for the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
