DSWD Claims P2.6 Billion Returned Cash Aid from Honest SAP Beneficiaries, LGUs
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Tuesday that they received P2.6 billion returned cash from honest SAP beneficiaries. and local government units (LGUs).
Lots of honest beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) have returned the cash assistance they have received from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The aid aims to help Filipinos whose livelihoods were affected by the pandemic.
“As of August 5, ang DSWD ay nakatanggap na po ng mahigit na P2.6 billion na refunded or returned budget mula sa ating Social Amelioration Program,” said DSWD Undersecretary Rene Glen Paje in a virtual press briefing.

According to the article of Manila Bulletin, Paje said the total amount of P49 million SAP aid was returned by 7,931 beneficiaries from various regions “due to duplication of assistance received from other government agencies or ineligibility.
“Ang refund ay dahil po sa duplication, dahil sa ineligibility o kaya excess or unexpended fund transfer sa mga LGUs,” Paje explained.
Apart from those returned by LGUs, they also received P66.4 million returned from financial service providers. He said that the reason for return is the unsuccessful credit problems with payroll file or inclusion of areas beyond the coverage of the FSPs.
“Samantala, ang mga FSPs ay nagrefund din ng P1.3 billion. Ang mga dahilan ng refund mula sa ating sa FSPs ay unsuccessful credit problems with payroll file or inclusion of areas beyond the coverage of the FSPs,” the DSWD official said.
DSWD previously shared that they removed nearly 3-million names from the list of SAP beneficiaries because they were duplicated. From the previous 17 million, the number on the list scheduled to receive SAP 2 has reached 14.1 million.
