WHO Admits COVID-19 Floats In Indoor Air In Latest Update
COVID FLOATS IN INDOOR AIR – The World Health Organization finally admitted that the new coronavirus could be airborne indoors.
Previously, WHO dismissed findings that revealed COVID-19 may stay afloat in closed spaces. They said it was possible but extremely rare, citing most cases that happen with medical personnel handling coronavirus patients.
However, over 200 scientist from around the world have concluded that this was not the case. As such, they urged WHO to conduct further research on the matter.

Due to pressure, WHO finally decided to conduct its own investigation on the claims. Afterward, they firmly announced for the first time that the virus may linger in the air of “crowded indoor spaces”.
Furthermore, they said that the aerosols contaminated with the virus may remain in the air for several hours and go up to tens of meters. According to an article from ABS-CBN, WHO stated that these may be the reason for:
outbreaks of COVID-19 reported in some closed settings, such as restaurants, nightclubs, places of worship or places of work where people may be shouting, talking or singing
Additionally, the agency also admitted that asymptomatic cases may also spread the virus. Previously, WHO said asymptomatic individuals infected with COVID-19 may spread the disease but emphasized that it was “very rare”.
However, in their latest update, they finally announced:
Infected people can transmit the virus both when they have symptoms and when they don’t have symptoms
This was also cited by the Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque. With the new findings, the Filipinos now hope for better systems against the deadly virus.
