Tito Sotto On Articles Linking Him To Pepsi Paloma’s Case: “Original fake news”

Tito Sotto was confident that the Pepsi Paloma articles he requested to be taken down will be granted.

TITO SOTTO – The Senate President Tito Sotto was confident that the articles from Inquirer linking him to Pepsi Paloma’s case will be removed and called it “original fake news”.

Based on a previous report, Rodel Rodis, a writer, has claimed that Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III sent a letter to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The letter accordingly contains request of the Senate president to remove the articles linking him to the mysterious case of the late 80’s beauties Pepsi Paloma.

“If the Inquirer agrees to his requests, a dangerous precedent will be set. Duterte will demand that my articles denouncing him should also be removed by the Inquirer. Jinggoy, Bongbong, even China will also send their demand letters to Inquirer,” says Rodis in a Facebook post.

Abelardo S. Ulanday, the editor-in-chief of the media organization stated that it is the right of the Senator to make the request citing that the articles have “unverified facts” and “baseless allegations” based on their statement.

And recently, according to a report from the GMA, Sotto was confident that his request will be granted and that is to remove the articles.

But the National Union of Journalist of the Philippines (NUJP) condemned him for his “brazen attempt to suppress freedom of the press and of expression.”

Sotto, however, fired back to NUJP that they had inadequate knowledge about the issue.

“They will. Because it’s fake news, it’s original fake news,” Sotto told reporters.

“Hindi nila alam ang story, kausapin nila Inquirer. Ibig mo bang sabihin kapag sinabi kong ‘yung mga taong naninira, binabayaran, freedom of the press din ‘yun? Hindi. Original fake news,” Sotto said in the report.
