Business Owner Warns Fellow Entrepreneurs About Fake GCash Payment Screenshot Scam

A female business owner warned her fellow entrepreneurs after almost becoming a victim of a scam involving a fake GCash payment screenshot.

Recently, the Facebook page Keziah Clothing Baguio, shared photos of a woman using fake GCash payment screenshot. The post quickly circulated online and garnered various reactions from the online community.

According to the business owner, a woman entered their store during a very busy time and started selecting several items. Since there were many customers inside the shop, the staff could not closely monitor her movements the entire time.

At first, nothing seemed suspicious, but later reviews of their CCTV footage showed that the customer appeared nervous and kept looking around the store cameras and observing the employees while preparing her payment.

The customer later showed a screenshot as proof of her supposed GCash payment amounting to P11,874. However, the staff immediately noticed that something did not look right. The fonts, spacing, and alignment of the letters and numbers in the screenshot looked different from a real GCash transaction receipt.

Instead of releasing the items right away, the store decided to verify the payment first. The staff asked the customer to wait for confirmation and requested another copy of the receipt.

After a few moments, the woman suddenly said she would just return later because her friend was waiting downstairs. She then left the store and never came back.

The business owner reminded fellow entrepreneurs and store employees to stay alert when receiving digital payments. They advised businesses not to rely only on screenshots and to always wait for the payment to appear in their account before releasing products.
