Viva artist Christine Li has refuted online claims that she is the “girlfriend” of former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson. Previously, there had been a video circulating online featuring the politician with a much younger woman sitting beside him.
Speculations were ignited, and Viva artist Christine Li was accused of being the new girl of the wealthy businessman. When the reports erupted online, Li reacted and immediately refuted the accusations of the people online.
The actress took to social media to deny that she was the woman seen sitting beside Singson in a circulating video. The clip showed an unidentified woman seated next to him at a shared table, seemingly holding his hand under the table.
“That’s not me,” she said. She also played back the video and stated, “Nope. Still not me.”
She then added that she has “never met Chavit Singson” in her life. Li expressed, “I don’t know him personally, but I know his son, whom I reached out to, kasi baka matulungan niya ako dito sa issue na ‘to.”
The artist said she is a “victim of fake news” and urged the public not to believe everything they see online. She appealed for people to stop spreading misinformation, adding that the situation has affected her to the point that she prefers to avoid going out in public. The actress also expressed frustration over being unable to defend herself since the claims were posted anonymously.
She then lamented how social media is often used to spread gossip instead of fostering positive communities, quipping that she made it to the headlines but for the wrong reasons.
