Recently, Filipina actress and content creator Ashley Rivera has brought tears to many after sharing a video of her making her mother happy. The video showed a glimpse of their journey on social media as they battle cancer together.
It was a deeply personal video because, behind her comedic persona, Petra Mahalimuyak, she took the courage to share a vulnerable moment. In the clip, the actress is seen singing “You Are My Sunshine” using a small megaphone in an attempt to make her mother smile. However, the lighthearted moment quickly turned emotional as Rivera broke down in tears while holding her mother’s hand.
The caption said, “Please don’t take my sunshine away. I wish this was just an April Fool’s post but this is my reality now. Thank you for all the love and prayers. My mama bear is a fighter!”
Despite the pain, Rivera remained hopeful and described her mother as a “fighter.” They both displayed strength and resilience in the face of illness.
Meanwhile, apart from hosting, Rivera has also done acting.
