Isko Moreno Reacts To Calls For Vice Ganda To Run For President

Isko Moreno showed support for the LGBTQIA+ community

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno attended the successful “White Party Manila” Pride Month celebration last Saturday, June 27, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, and he was asked to share his thoughts on calls for Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda to run for president in the 2028 elections.

The actor-turned-politician, also popularly called “Yorme” has consistently championed support for and respect toward members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Manila mayor is a proud supporter—or ally—of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially given his background in show business, where he frequently worked alongside gay men and lesbians, based on the article in Bandera.

“Nandito ako to show the support of the City of Manila. E, ‘di ba, sa Manila, walang bakla, walang tomboy, walang mahirap, walang middle class, walang mayaman,” he said, adding that in Manila, everyone is equal.

Yorme reportedly has many close friends within the LGBTQIA+ community, including her former talent manager, Daddie Wowie Roxas. Furthermore, many of the employees and staff at her Manila office are said to be gay men and lesbians.

The actor-politician was also asked for his thoughts on those urging TV host-comedian Vice Ganda to run for president of the Philippines in the 2028 elections. For several instances, the Kapamilya star has already stressed that he has no plan to enter politics.

To recall, fans of It’s Showtime, and even some showbiz personalities, urged him to enter politics.

“Well, technically, he’s qualified,” Mayor Isko Moreno said. Then, he was asked a probing question, whether it was time for a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, like the Unkabogable Box-Office Star, to lead the country.

“Well, it’s up for the people to decide. Ang maganda naman kasi sa atin, democracy. You can choose anybody,” the Manila Mayor said.
