The foreign composer behind the viral dance track in the Philippines entitled ‘Hawak Mo Ang Beat’ denied using artificial intelligence (AI).
The composer Sylvain Hernandez, a French national who is married to a Filipina is now speaking up to clear the air. Known in the music scene as DJ Mogo, he shared that the song was inspired by his experiences in the Philippines.
Hernandez explained that the lively and playful rhythm of the Visayas, especially the cha-cha vibe, stayed with him. This influence helped shape the cheerful and energetic feel of the song, which has made many people enjoy dancing to it on social media platforms.

The foreigner also shared that his wife played a major role in helping him create the track. Despite the song’s success, questions started to rise online. Some netizens wondered if artificial intelligence was used in making the music.
DJ Mogo quickly denied these claims and stressed that the song was created through his own effort and love for the country. For him, the focus should remain on the music and the joy it brings to listeners.
“No any part of the song was generated by AI. Authentic, 100 percent made with my hands and my love for the Philippines,” DJ Mogo said.
The issue of AI in music has become a hot topic in the industry. Pablo of the group SB19 shared his thoughts, saying that while AI can be a powerful tool, it must be used responsibly.
He pointed out that using an artist’s identity or work without permission is unfair and should not be allowed.

Meanwhile, the Filipino Society of Composers Authors and Publishers Inc. reminded users of AI tools to act responsibly. They emphasized the importance of using licensed material and respecting the rights of original creators.
