Arm of Garbage Collector Crushed in Trash Truck Accident
A garbage collector is now facing the risk of losing his arm after it was caught in a trash truck while on duty in Lipa City, Batangas.
Last Tuesday afternoon (February 24, 2025), the victim identified as Emilu Narvaez and his coworkers were collecting garbage at the Lipaseti Public Market. It was supposed to be a normal day of work, but it quickly turned into a tragedy.
Narvaez’s left arm was trapped in the conveyor of the garbage truck. Witnesses said he was shouting in pain as his coworkers rushed to help him. They surrounded him and tried to stay calm while figuring out how to free his arm.
Some attempted to pry open the conveyor using a shovel, but it did not work at first. After several tense moments, Narvaez was finally freed from the machine. The pain was clearly visible on his face.
Photos taken after the incident showed deep marks on his arm where it had been crushed.
According to reports, the accident happened when a coworker accidentally lowered the truck’s conveyor while Narvaez was in the wrong position. He was standing near the back of the truck at that exact moment, which caused his arm to get caught.
Narvaez was immediately brought to the hospital for treatment. Doctors are now closely examining his injury. There is a possibility that his left arm may need to be amputated, depending on the results of further tests and evaluation.
The incident has left many people concerned, especially those who understand how risky garbage collection work can be.
