Authorities Arrest Man in Zambales for Threatening San Antonio Mayor w/ Gun 

A man in San Antonio, Zambales was arrested by the police authorities after threatening the town’s mayor with a gun. 

Earlier this week, Mayor Arvin Rolly “Dok Arvin” Antipolo was on his way home after attending the World Teachers’ Day celebration at San Antonio Central Elementary School when the suspect confronted him. 

The man reportedly hurled unpleasant words at the mayor, prompting Antipolo to approach and try to talk to him. Instead of calming down, the suspect suddenly pulled out a firearm.

Fortunately, Police Staff Sergeant James Dancel, who was assigned as area security for the program, witnessed the incident. He immediately acted, disarming and arresting the suspect before anyone was harmed. A loaded firearm was recovered from the man. 

Authorities confirmed that the suspect is now under police custody and faces charges for violating Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, as well as Grave Threats. 

The Zambales Police Provincial Office, under Provincial Director Colonel Benjamin Ariola, praised the quick response of the officers on the ground. He emphasized that their swift action not only prevented possible harm to the mayor but also showed the readiness and alertness of local police in handling dangerous situations.

“Pinupuri namin ang mabilis na pagaresto ng suspek na nagbanta sa Mayor ng San Antonio. Ipinapakita nito ang pagiging listo at agarang aksyon ng mga kapulisan,” Ariola said. 

Local authorities assured the public that safety remains their priority and that necessary steps will be taken to prevent similar threats in the future. For the people of San Antonio, the fast police response brought reassurance that their leaders and community are being protected.
