On Saturday (September 27, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Opong will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Opong has regained typhoon strength while moving away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

PAGASA

Opong was last spotted 505 km west of Indang, Cavite, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

The typhoon’s trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA.

The southwest monsoon will bring similar weather conditions over Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

PAGASA

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is still up in the following areas:

  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Cavite
  • Batangas
  • Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Islands)
  • Western portion of Pangasinan

The localized thunderstorms and rain showers may still affect parts of the country.

Generally fair-weather conditions are expected starting Monday, September 29, 2025, as the enhanced southwest monsoon weakens and easterlies dominate over the next four days.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times, heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the archipelago will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
