Grandpa Lost His Life After Alleged Attack by Swarm of Bees in Leyte
A grandpa was found dead after he was reportedly attacked by a swarm of bees in Barangay Ma-asin, Hindang, Leyte.
The 77-year-old victim was identified by authorities as “Nor,” a resident of the same village. His lifeless body was discovered at around 4:30 p.m. on July 27 in Purok Sun-ok Cluster 5.
Based on the initial investigation, the elderly man went up a mountain earlier that day with a 43-year-old companion. The two were reportedly looking for birds when the incident happened.

At around 10:30 a.m., while they were in the mountainous area, they were suddenly attacked by a large number of bees locally known as “putyukan.” The unexpected attack caused panic as the insects repeatedly stung both men.
Authorities said both victims suffered multiple bee stings on different parts of their bodies. In an attempt to escape, they ran away from the area and tried to find safety.
The younger man was able to make it back home safely despite the injuries he sustained. However, the elderly victim was left behind during the confusion and was unable to return.
Several hours later, another man went back to the area to look for the senior citizen. Upon reaching the location, he found the victim lying motionless. The elderly man had visible bee stings on various parts of his body.
Residents immediately reported the incident to local authorities. Members of the Hindang Municipal Police Station responded and conducted an investigation at the scene.
The victim was brought to the Rural Health Unit in Hindang, but doctors declared him dead upon examination. A post-mortem examination was also carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators found no signs of foul play or any indication that another person was involved in the death. The authorities allowed the family to take the victim’s remains home for burial preparations.
