Sen. Imee Marcos Wants To Talk to Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte
IMEE MARCOS – The presidential sister and Senator requested the International Criminal Court to be allowed to visit former President Rodrigo Duterte inside the ICC detention facility.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte remains detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands for more than 100 days now. His camp has filed for an interim release bid but there are still no updates about it yet.
Following the claims that the former President is “skin and bones” now, several Duterte ally senators filed a resolution seeking for a house arrest for the former Chief Executive. Senator Alan Peter Cayetano filed a separated resolution from the resolution filed by senators Bong Go, Bato dela Rosa, and Robin Padilla.
Several members of the Duterte family recently claimed that the former President has lost a lot of weight. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, it is mainly because of the loss of appetite on food.
Amid the concern and worries of the Duterte supporters for former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte amid his slim physique now, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed she prefers it over the previous physique of her father with a huge belly. According to her, his then physique looked very unhealthy for his heart.
The arrest and the transfer of custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the ICC in The Hague has divided the nation. Surprisingly, amid her brother being criticized because of the unexpected turn of events, Sen. Imee Marcos sided with the Dutertes.
Sen. Imee Marcos previously claimed that she cannot accept what was done to former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. She launched a Senate investigation over Duterte’s arrest and even confirmed that the plane that brought the former President to The Hague was allegedly the same plane used by Pres. Bongbong Marcos in a trip.
In May, the Senator went along with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to The Hague. She attempted to visit the former President but she was not allowed.
Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos went to The Hague, Netherlands against for another attempt to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Based on a report on PhilStar, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed that the presidential sister has submitted a formal request to the ICC through the legal team of the former Chief Executive.
According to the Vice President, she has already informed her father that Sen. Marcos wants to visit him inside the ICC detention facility. Based on the report, amid the call of some Duterte-ally senators for the interim release of the former President, the Senator acknowledged that the foreign court has its own process.
“When I talked with (former) president Duterte inside, I mentioned to him that Sen. Imee is here and she requested again to the ICC through the lawyer if she can enter there,” Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said.
Amid her stand on the controversial turn of events last March 11, Sen. Imee Marcos filed the “President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Act” inspired by the arrest and the transfer of custody of the former Chief Executive.
