Four dead, including the suspect, in a shooting incident in Cavite during a flag ceremony.
SHOOTING INCIDENT IN CAVITE – A former barangay tanod opened fire during a flag-raising ceremony, killing three barangay officials.
Four people, including the gunman, died in a shooting incident that transpired during a flag-raising ceremony at a barangay hall in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, on Monday morning. Police Regional Office 4A confirmed this.

Three of those who died were barangay officials – a 56-year-old barangay chairman and 2 barangay kagawads aged 54 and 65. The Sanguniang Kabataan (SK) secretary was critically injured. According to the investigation, the gunman approached Ballos from behind and fired, then turned to the two councilors beside him and fired as well.
The suspect is a former barangay tanod named Ariel, aged 50. After doing it, he used the same gun to end his life. The victims and the suspect were rushed to nearby hospitals, but they did not make it.
With the suspect’s death, the motive for the fatal shooting is yet to be determined by the investigators.
Regional Director PBGen Paul Kenneth Lucas ordered a thorough investigation and said, “We strongly condemn the heinous shooting incident. We immediately instructed our investigators to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the real motive behind this crime, and to provide justice to the deceased and injured victims.”

Meanwhile, a shooting incident in Silay occurred in Ipil-Ipil Street, Barangay Mambulac, on the day of the midterm elections.
Silay City Police Chief Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca identified the two people killed, namely Ronnie Piedad and Albert Salimbot. Jayson Belleza, Roel Espinosa, Joey Pomares, Ric Ortillano, Wilfredo Cuello, Glenn Gutierez, and Jinrey Guitsi were injured, and one of them was in critical condition at a hospital.
The alleged suspect has already surrendered.
