This is what Vic Sotto said to the stars of the Pepsi Paloma movie.
Veteran actor and television host Vic Sotto filed cyber libel complaints against film director Darryl Yap on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
19 counts of cyber libel against Pepsi Paloma movie director Darryl Yap were filed by Vic Sotto whose name was mentioned in a controversial manner in the teaser. Sotto filed a case against Yap that seeks total damage of Php 35 million.
The Php 20 million from the said amount was for moral damages and this is when someone has inflicted “physical suffering, mental anguish, fright, serious anxiety, besmirched reputation, wounded feelings, moral shock, social humiliation, or similar harm” to another.
On January 7, the camp of Sotto filed a petition to issue the writ of habeas data which was already granted by the court.
While the director is facing 19 counts of cyber libel complaints, what did Sotto say about the stars of the upcoming Pepsi Paloma film? Will he hold grudges against these stars?
According to the actor, no one from the production of the film told him about the mention of his name. No one consulted and asked him, hence, no consent has been given.
As for the stars of the film, he did not mind their involvement at all as he understood that it was for work. He said, “Trabaho lang yun. No problem.”
The artists of the film are Gina Alajar as Charito Solis, Shamaine Buencamino as the mother of Pepsi Paloma, Mon Confiado as Dr. Rey de la Cruz, and Rosanna Roces as Divina Valencia.
Rhed Bustamante will be playing the Pepsi Paloma role. To recall, the late actress took her own life on May 31, 1985.
