Jinggoy Estrada Mugshot w/ Shirt Draped Over His Shoulders, CIDG Explains

CIDG released the mugshot of Jinggoy Estrada

Sen. Jinggoy Estrada was seen in his mugshot with the PDL shirt draped over his shoulders instead of being worn properly.

On June 1, Estrada voluntarily surrendered following the release of the warrant of arrest against him due to his alleged involvement in the anomalous flood control project. His allies in the Senate showed support for him.

Sen. Camille Villar was seen getting emotional, while Sen Alan Peter Cayetano accompanied him when he surrendered.

Estrada was detained at the Quezon City Jail, and even prior to his surrender, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla said that Estrada’s jail accommodation was already prepared.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) released the mugshots of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and former DPWH Sec. Manuel Bonoan and three other co-accused, in connection with graft and plunder cases.

It can be seen that Estrada’s PDL shirt was just draped over his shoulders, and CIDG National Capital Region chief PCol. John Guiagui explained this.

He said that officers were not able to find a detainee shirt that fit Estrada’s build, and their time was limited. “May time constraint during that time kasi kailangan na namin siyang i-deliver sa Sandiganbayan. Walang magkasya na damit sa kanya. Lahat na ng damit na available sa amin pinasukat namin, hindi talaga magkasya doon sa build ng katawan niya,” Guiagui said.

Because of this, they resorted to letting the Senator drape the shirt over his shoulder while the mugshot was taken. The CIDG stressed that the situation must not be concluded as favoritism.

“It goes to show na lahat ng proseso na dapat gawin ng mga nahuhuli ay ginawa ng CIDG. Nataon lang na wala talagang magkasya. Wala pong special treatment. Kung si [former DPWH] Sec. Bonoan nga po napalagyan natin ng tamang damit. Andun naman ‘yung damit, wala lang talagang magkasya kaya sa susunod maghahanap na kami ng triple XL na mga damit na kasya,” he explained.

Previously, the camp of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada requested the Sandiganbayan to let him wear civilian clothes, and not the PDL shirt, during hearings.
