The reigning highest-grossing Filipino film of all time is “Rewind” by Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
Surpassing the earnings of “Hello, Love, Goodbye” is the film “Rewind” starring Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
The film “Hello, Love, Goodbye” starred celebrities Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards. This film is about the story of an OFW and a bartender who are both struggling in life. They tried hard but had to choose the most difficult path for them to grow as individual people.
This is the highest grossing Filipino film of all time since 2019.
However, as of 3 PM of January 17, 2024, HLG was dethroned and replacing their top place is the MMFF 2023 “Rewind” of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. The worldwide gross of “Rewind” has crossed the Php 845 million mark. This is now the Philippines’ highest grossing film.
It earned Php 815 million in local ticket sales which surpassed the Php 691 million domestic box office of HLG. It also moved Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s 2018 Star Cinema movie, The Hows of Us, one step lower in ranks with Php 660 million domestic gross.
The worldwide earning of “Rewind” at Php 845 million was reached after 24 days since it was shown in numerous cinemas. This also surpassed the Php 838 million of Kathryn and Alden’s movie.
“Rewind”, to many viewers, was a powerful tool to remind them of how precious time is. But, at the same time, the movie is also a story of forgiveness, reflection, life’s unpredictability, time being the best gift, the reality that there’s no rewind in life, and faith in God.
Meanwhile, the other MMFF 2023 official movies completing the list of 10 are:
- “A Mother and Son’s Story” (Cineko Productions)
