Delivery Rider Arrested for Robbing Burger Stand Due to Huge Debt From Online Gambling
A 42-year-old delivery rider was arrested after allegedly robbing a burger stand along E. Rodriguez Avenue in Barangay Kristong Hari, Quezon City.
Authorities said the suspect was heavily in debt due to online gambling, which may have pushed him to commit the crime. The incident happened in the early hours of August 7, 2026 (Friday).
CCTV footage showed the suspect arriving on a motorcycle before carrying out the robbery. Another camera captured him turning onto Balete Drive as he fled the area after taking the money.

According to the 34-year-old victim, the man first acted like a regular customer and even ordered food. While preparing the order, the victim noticed that the suspect was carrying what appeared to be a firearm.
“Nung ibinigay ko na po order niya saka po siya nagdeklara, sabi niya ‘Holdap ito, akin na ‘yung pera d’yan.’ Nung una po tinatanggihan ko po, ‘Walang pera sir, wala pa pong benta.’ Tapos, ‘Babarilin kita,’ ganun niya sinabi,” the victim said.
As soon as the food was handed over, the suspect allegedly announced the robbery and demanded the cash earnings of the burger stand.

Fearing for his safety, the victim handed over around P5,200. He later shared that the loss was especially painful because the missing amount would be deducted from his salary, leaving him with little to take home after waiting an entire month for his paycheck.
Although the suspect was wearing a helmet, part of his face remained visible, allowing the victim to recognize him. This helped police quickly begin tracking his movements.
Investigators said the suspect roamed different areas of Quezon City before making an e-wallet cash-in transaction in Marikina. Through this lead, authorities were able to identify and locate him. Police eventually arrested him in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan while he was attending a family birthday gathering.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly used his work as a delivery rider to scout possible targets. Investigators also discovered that he had reportedly been involved in similar crimes before and had previously been arrested for theft.
Police recovered a gun replica, a motorcycle, and fake license plates from the suspect. He is now detained at the Galas Police Station and is facing robbery and firearms-related charges while the investigation continues.
