School Authorities Recover .38 Revolver From Grade 6 Student Inside School in BiliranĀ 

A Grade 6 student was found carrying a caliber .38 revolver inside Pulang Bato Elementary School in Almeria, Biliran.  

The firearm, which reportedly had no ammunition, was discovered during a school visitation conducted on July 29. According to the Almeria Municipal Police Station, the school principal immediately reported the incident after the weapon was found. 

School authorities quickly secured the revolver and turned it over to responding police officers for proper handling.

Following the discovery, police coordinated with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), the barangay chairman, the school principal, and the student’s parents. 

Authorities worked together to assess the situation and determine the appropriate steps to take. 

The child underwent assessment and counseling to better understand the circumstances surrounding the incident. After the necessary interventions were completed, the student was returned to the care of his parentsĀ in accordance withĀ the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.

Meanwhile, the revolver was brought to the Almeria Municipal Police Station, where it is now being kept as part of the ongoing investigation and proper disposition process. 

The incident prompted school officials and law enforcement authorities to take additional measures to support students and maintain a safe learning environment. 

Members of the Women and Children Protection Desk conducted a briefing for students to provide emotional support and remind them of the importance of reporting any threats or suspicious activities they may encounter inside the school. 

Authorities emphasized that keeping schools safe remains a top priority. In response to the incident, the Biliran Police Provincial Office assured the public that it will continue strengthening its Safer Schools Initiative. 

The program includes regular visits to schools, close coordination with school administrators, local officials, and community stakeholders, as well as efforts to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
