John Amores Gets Second Chance as He Returns to the PBA
JOHN AMORES – One of the most talked-about figures in Philippine basketball is back as John Amores secures a spot on Titan Ultra’s roster for the remainder of the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup.
John Amores is officially returning to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) after being away from the league for more than a year due to a highly publicized legal case that temporarily put his professional basketball career on hold.
The controversial former NorthPort cager has signed a new contract with Titan Ultra for the remainder of the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup, marking a fresh chapter in his basketball journey. His return comes after completing the requirements set by the league and the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), allowing him to once again compete at the professional level.
Amores was accompanied by his representative, Donny Espiritu, during the contract signing, which took place just days before the season-ending conference began at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Fans may recall that Amores previously suited up for the NorthPort franchise, which is now operating under the Titan Ultra banner. His comeback follows the resolution of the shooting case filed against him in connection with an incident in Laguna. With the legal matter settled, the GAB granted him official clearance to resume his basketball career.
The GAB also informed the PBA that a new professional license had been issued to Amores, paving the way for his inclusion in Titan Ultra’s official roster for the upcoming conference. This development officially clears any remaining hurdles that previously prevented him from returning to league action.
Before receiving approval to play again, Amores fulfilled all of the conditions required by the GAB. These included rendering community service, participating in charity work, and attending psychological and psychiatric consultations. Completing these requirements demonstrated his compliance with the board’s mandate and became a crucial step toward regaining his eligibility to compete.
His return is expected to draw significant attention from basketball fans, as many are eager to see how he performs after his lengthy absence from professional competition.
