Ping Lacson has this recent strong statement as a public servant
Senator Ping Lacson asserted that the most important legacy his parents left him was honesty.
With this, he can confidently say that he has never been, and will never be, a corrupt public servant. Lacson has been in the political arena for many years already, after serving as the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In his political career, he went through several controversies and issues. Just recently, he was once again accused of corruption.
The lawmaker defended himself and asserted that he is not a corrupt official, based on the report from Abante News Online.
“Wala namang pinamana sa akin ‘yung magulang ko eh kundi ‘yung kanilang magandang ehemplo sa pagiging tapat, pagiging honest,” Sen. Ping Lacson.
He also said that they were just poor back then. His father was a driver, and his mother was a market vendor, and that he and his siblings were raised well.
“Dinala ko ‘yan hanggang sa magpahanggang ngayon,” the lawmaker said. “Mamamatay ako na hindi ako korap na public official,” Lacson added.
This statement from the former police official was prompted by the earlier statement from Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, who questioned the significant increase in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) for 2025 compared to the figures recorded in 2022.
Lacson explained that between his departure from government service in 2022 and the 2025 elections, he engaged in various private business ventures, including real estate.
The Senator also said that they acted as brokers and they had a fairly large deal. He pointed out that there was nothing wrong when he earned from this project.
Meanwhile, Lacson said he no longer wishes to engage with Cayetano’s labeling of him as the “chief persecutor.”
For Sen. Ping Lacson, there is no point in responding to his critics. For him, Sen. Peter Cayetano only wanted to have a topic to be discussed on his regular FB Live. “But if he attacks my integrity, I will certainly fight back,” Lacson said.
