Win Gatchalian shared this post, which did not sit well with some netizens
Senate President Win Gatchalian faced criticism for his photo with Vice President Sara Duterte at his office.
On Monday, June 22, 2026, the Senator shared photos taken at his office. It can be seen in the photos that he had a meeting with his staff.
“Starting our Monday by meeting with our legislative staff to fast-track LEDAC priority bills and push forward key measures from our fellow Senators,” he wrote in the caption of his post.
In the comment section of his post, the lawmaker received praise from his supporters for being a “working senator.”
However, on Reddit, eagle-eyed netizens noticed something at his office. It was his framed photo with Vice President Sara Duterte.
To recall, in the 2022 elections, Sen. Win Gatchalian was part of the Uniteam. He was one of the senatorial candidates under the winning tandem of President Bongbong Marcos and VP Sara.
The framed photo was apparently part of a campaign material, in which the Senate President posed beside the Vice President, and they both had the victory hand gesture.
In the comment section of a Reddit post, netizens criticized Gatchalian and accused him of being a DDS or diehard Duterte supporter. For some netizens, this has been a trend that Gatchalian would switch alliances. Here are some comments.
As of this writing, the Senator has not yet spoken about the criticism against him because of his photo with the Vice President.
Meanwhile, Sen. Win Gatchalian previously insisted that the trial of VP Sara Duterte’s impeachment complaint must commence publicly before any motions to dismiss from the defense can be formally considered.
The Senate President also expressed that the 1987 Constitution mandates a transparent hearing where both the prosecution and defense present their arguments.
