Bong Go To Remain in Senate Minority Bloc: “Gusto ko lang pong makapagtrabaho”

Sen. Bong Go Speaks Following Leadership Change in Senate

BONG GO – The Senator maintained that he will remain in the minority bloc even if he will be left there alone.

The Senate once again had a leadership change — less than a month since former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto was ousted and replaced with now former SP Alan Peter Cayetano. Then, Sotto believes that his ouster may allegedly be related to the possible impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.

However, Cayetano did not stay long in the Senate lead. On the third day of his bloc’s absence from the Senate session, Sen. Chiz Escudero made a different decision from the rest of his co-members in the then majority as he appeared for the Senate plenary session.

Then-Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano and the majority senators were absent for three (3) days. According to Cayetano, they were doing it to maintain the committee chairmanships with them so they can push through with the flood control hearing.

The then-minority bloc called for the resignation of Cayetano amid his absence. Last June 3, 12 senators voted to declare all Senate positions and elected Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian as the Senate President Pro Tempore. The said leadership change was not recognized by the new minority bloc.

On June 17, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano conceded as the Senate president. Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian was officially elected by 13 senators into the Senate presidency. The majority bloc is now composed of 13 senators after Sen. Joel Villanueva jumped ship.

Recently, following the Senate leadership change, Sen. Bong Go broke his silence and maintained that he will remain as part of the minority bloc in the chamber. Based on News5, he stressed that it won’t matter even he will be left alone in the bloc.

“Mananatili po ako sa minority kahit na dalawa na lang kaming magkasama o mag-isa na lang,” Go said.

Sen. Bong Go claimed that he will stay with his principles and beliefs. Based on the post, he stressed that he just wants to work.

“Dito po kami dahil sa aming prinisipyo at paniniwala. At ako naman, gusto ko lang pong makapagtrabaho,” the Senator said.

Recently, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that he allegedly got an information that an arrest warrant against Sen. Bong Go has allegedly been released by the ICC (International Criminal Court).
