Cristine Reyes Reveals Painful Truth Behind Rushed Marriage After Pregnancy
CRISTINE REYES – Actress Cristine Reyes has finally broken her silence about a deeply personal chapter in her life that continues to spark conversations online.
Cristine Reyes has candidly opened up about one of the biggest regrets in her personal life—her decision to marry after becoming pregnant. In a recent episode of The Sexytime Podcast, Cristine shared how societal pressure influenced her choice at the time.
The actress admitted that she felt compelled to tie the knot with her former husband, Ali Khatibi, after discovering she was expecting their child. Reflecting on that period, she said, “‘Yon ‘yong mistake ko na parang feeling ko nagpa-pressure ako sa society na, ‘Ay di ako married tapos pregnant ako. So kailangan kasal kami.’” Her statement highlights the cultural expectations that often weigh heavily on individuals, especially women, when it comes to family and relationships.

Cristine further revealed that her decision was also driven by her desire to provide a complete family for her daughter, Amarah Khatibi. “Tapos inisip ko si Amarah, parang gusto ko siyang bigyan ng family, buo. Wala, mali,” she added, acknowledging that her intentions, though well-meaning, ultimately led to a decision she now regrets.
Beyond her regrets about marriage, Cristine also opened up about painful experiences during the relationship. She recounted what she considered the worst incident involving her former husband. “Ito talaga ‘yong worst. Sinong matinong tao makakalimot ng anniversary niyo, ng wedding anniversary niyo? Do’n talaga ako nagpe-pray na parang, ‘Pag wala talaga siyang ginawa, ayoko na,” she shared.
The actress also disclosed that she allegedly experienced domestic abuse but chose to remain silent at the time. Explaining her hesitation, she said, “Sinong maniniwala? Sasabihin nila, ‘Cristine ka, e. Ikaw si Cristine Reyes, matapang ka, e.’ Sinong maniniwala sa ‘kin, ‘di ba?”

When asked for his side, Ali declined to address the issue further, stating, “I have to decide which matters more, the family I’m trying to build or self-preservation. I hope you will understand that I choose the prior. I will allow this to die a natural death without me adding fuel to the fire.”
Cristine and Ali got married in 2016 but separated three years later. Despite their past, many netizens continue to admire their efforts to maintain a healthy co-parenting relationship for the sake of their child.
