Grab PH released a statement regarding the recent incident involving Xyriel Manabat

Grab Philippines has suspended a TNVS (Transport Network Vehicle Service) driver who made lewd comments about Kapamilya actress Xyriel Manabat.

To recall, Xyriel decided to take a stand after learning of the inappropriate remarks about her, which garnered widespread online support and condemnation of the driver’s behavior.

Social media personality Boss Toyo Mansi sparked backlash after posting a selfie with the Kapamilya actress, initially captioning it “ang laki ng bata na ’yan.”

Then, this was followed by a series of inappropriate and suggestive remarks. The situation escalated when he used lewd language, specifically the term “jak*l”, which many fans and netizens condemned as disrespectful and predatory.

Based on the article in PEP, in a statement released by Grab on Wednesday night, April 8, 2026, the company said that they have also asked for the actress’s forgiveness.

They promised Xyriel that they will do whatever is necessary to hold the driver accountable for his misconduct.

Grab Philippines extends its sincere apology to Ms. Xyriel Manabat for the unacceptable experience she had with a driver. What was reported is deeply concerning and does not reflect the standards we uphold on the platform,” the company stated.

The TNVS driver is reportedly under preventive suspension due to a “grave violation and a bannable offense” in accordance with their “driver guidelines.”

The company also stressed that even though all driver-partners on the Grab platform undergo mandatory safe spaces and anti-harassment training, it acknowledged that this incident needed more than just a restatement of existing protocols.

Grab emphasized that it is taking a comprehensive review of its driver behavior protocols. “Every person who uses Grab has the right to feel safe. We will continue to hold ourselves and our driver-partners to that standard, without exception,” the company stated.

Grab also reminded passengers to report incidents when they feel unsafe through the Grab app’s 24/7 Safety Center, so that the matter will be addressed right away.
