SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President released her message on the Muslim celebration of Eid’l Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan.

In the Muslim belief, one of the celebrations that is greatly held every year is the Eid’l Fitr or the “Festival of the Breaking of the Feast”. It marks the end of the month-long Ramdan. Usually, it is declared as a regular holiday in the country aside from the Eid al-Adha or the “Feast of the Sacrifice”.

The Eid al-Adha and the Eid’l Fitr holidays are not part of the initial list of the Philippine holidays 2026 as they have no fixed dates. In fact, for the “Festival of the Breaking of the Feast”, it was initially set on Friday, March 20, 2026. Pres. Bongbong Marcos had declared March 20 as a regular holiday for Eid’l Fitr.

However, due to the none-sighting of the crescent moon during the traditional rites held on Thursday, the Islamic scholars in the Bangsamoro region have decided to move the observance of the feast on March 21.
