The actress immediately responded to the hateful remark and expressed her disappointment over the growing normalization of such comments online.

“I’m used to criticism, but some people are getting way too comfortable with their words.

“Nobody deserves to be on the receiving end of jokes like this,” the actress said.

Following her post, many Facebook users came to Klea’s defense and condemned the basher’s actions. Among those who reacted was rumored girlfriend Janella Salvador, who reposted the official statement released by the team behind the queer film Open Endings, where Klea and Janella worked together.

The statement strongly denounced the threat made against the actress and emphasized the dangers faced by members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

“We, at Open Endings, strongly condemn the anonymous threat sent to one of our actors, Klea Pineda.

“Threats of sexual violence are never a joke, never acceptable, and never something that should be normalized especially against members of the LGBTQIA+ community, who continue to face harassment, discrimination, and violence simply for existing openly and truthfully.

“Klea deserves safety, dignity, and protection. So does every queer person.

“We refuse to stay silent in the face of hate, intimidation, and cruelty.

“Words like these cause real fear and real harm, and they contribute to a culture that continues to endanger queer lives.

“We stand firmly with Klea, and with every member of the LGBTQIA+ community who has ever been made to feel unsafe for being themselves.

“There is no place for violence, threats, or hate here.”

“We do not condone acts of hate and intimidation and re-affirm our commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all our artists.”
