Bong Suntay’s Viral Comment Sparks Gabbi Garcia’s Fiery Response
GABBI GARCIA – Public figures are joining the debate after Suntay’s controversial statement, with Gabbi Garcia calling it downright ‘Nakakadiri.’
Kapuso TV host and actress Gabbi Garcia expressed strong outrage over the controversial remarks made by Bong Suntay about Anne Curtis, joining a growing list of personalities who have spoken out on the issue.
The controversy began after Suntay’s comments during a hearing discussing the impeachment case of Sara Duterte went viral online. In his statement, the lawmaker used Anne Curtis as an example while talking about the idea of a “designated survivor,” a remark that quickly drew criticism from netizens and public figures alike.

Gabbi did not hold back in expressing her disappointment and disgust toward the politician’s statements about her fellow actress. Through a post on her X account, formerly known as Twitter, she directly called out Suntay’s remarks and emphasized that those in positions of authority should act with greater responsibility.
“If you hold power, act like it. Objectifying women, even in passing remarks, is unacceptable,” said Gabbi.
She continued her message with an even stronger statement condemning the comment.
“We are not here to be reduced to someone’s imagination. NAKAKADIRI.”
Gabbi is not the only public figure who reacted to the issue. Anne Curtis’ sister, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, as well as veteran broadcaster Karen Davila, have also spoken out about the matter, adding to the public discussion surrounding Suntay’s remarks.
During the hearing, Suntay shared an anecdote involving Anne Curtis, which later became the center of the backlash.
“Minsan nasa Shangri-La ako, nakita ko si Anne Curtis. Ang ganda-ganda pala niya. You know, may desire sa loob ko na nag-init talaga, at na-imagine ko na lang kung ano ang puwedeng mangyari. Pero siyempre hanggang imagination lang ’yon,” said Suntay.

Following the criticism, the congressman stood by his statement and insisted that there was no malicious intent behind his words.
“There’s nothing sexual dun sa sinabi ko. Nothing immoral. I said may na-imagine ako. I think there’s nothing wrong. There’s nothing even sexual sa statement na ‘yon. Sabi ko, ‘Ang ganda-ganda niya.’ And I think she should take it as a compliment that I feel and I believe that she’s very beautiful,” he clarified.
The issue continues to spark debate online, with many calling for greater sensitivity and accountability from public officials when speaking about women.
