Carla Abellana Admits They’re Having A Hard Time Conceiving Naturally

Carla Abellana hopes to have her own family.

In an interview, Kapuso actress Carla Abellana opens up about the difficulty in conceiving naturally and their backup plans.

Actress Carla Abellana and Dr. Reginald Santos tied the knot on December 27, 2025, during a private ceremony in Tagaytay City. The couple exchanged vows at the picturesque Almond Garden Tagaytay, a charming setting that perfectly captured the carefree, fairytale atmosphere they had envisioned for their long-awaited special day.

However, for the actress, the wedding is not the happy ending for her. It’s just the start of something beautiful, as they are now trying to have their own family.

In an interview, she admitted that they find it hard to naturally conceive, but the good thing in this situation for them is that they are both open to exploring other options. She is turning 40 this year, and the clock is ticking for her. She is set to turn 40 on June 12, 2026.

“Hopefully, makapag-start na kami mag-build ng family, if God permits. Yun ang focus bilang, of course, the clock is ticking din. Magpo-40 na ako this year. Let’s say, hirap man kami na mag-conceive naturally, at least merong ganung back-up, merong ganung option,” she shared.

They are open to doing in vitro fertilization, more commonly known as IVF. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) stated that this procedure involves retrieving eggs from a woman’s ovaries and fertilizing them with sperm in a laboratory. Once fertilization takes place and an embryo forms, it is carefully transferred into the uterus with the goal of achieving a successful pregnancy.

Her husband, Dr. Reginald, expressed in an interview, “Whatever it is that she needs for her career and for her health, of course. That’s my primary focus para sa kanya. Of course, she’s my wife so, I need to take care of her.”

She also did egg freezing, and last year, she shared how this fertility preservation process is being done. This journey is “a transformative experience” that demanded research, emotional preparation, and strong support.
