LPG Tank Blast in Navotas Injured 6 Individuals
Six individuals were injured after a small LPG tank exploded inside a house along Matambaka Street in Barangay NBBS, Navotas City.
A CCTV footage taken on Wednesday morning of February 25, 2026, children could be seen playing outside in the street just moments before a sudden explosion shook the area. The blast came from inside a rented home where a family was preparing to cook corn to sell.
According to one of the residents, a relative was using a small LPG tank, locally known as a tankito, when the head of the stove was accidentally removed. Gas may have leaked, and when it came into contact with the flame, it triggered the explosion.

“Akala ko may nag-aaway lang po eh tapos ngayon sumilip ako sa bintana. Pag dungaw ko po nakita ko po ‘yung babae na ‘yung damit warak-warak na po eh. Umuusok po yung ulo,” neighbor Danilo Payag said.
The blast caused burns to several people inside the house. An elderly woman and her two children suffered skin burns. Two visitors who were also inside at that time were injured as well.
A neighbor outside the house sustained a wound on his forehead. Another neighbor shared that he was sleeping when he suddenly heard a loud explosion. The force was strong enough to scatter items inside nearby homes and damage some belongings.
Dr. Vonne Villanueva, head of the Navotas City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, explained that small LPG tanks like the one involved are not designed for regular indoor cooking.
Villanueva said these tanks are usually meant for outdoor use, such as camping. Because the burner sits directly on top of the tank, the design can be risky, especially in enclosed spaces where the impact of an explosion is stronger.
The local disaster office now plans to coordinate with the Bureau of Fire Protection to closely monitor the sale and use of these small LPG tanks. The injured victims are still recovering in the hospital as authorities continue their investigation.
