Speculation is once again swirling in the boxing world after Manny Pacquiao hinted at a possible second showdown with longtime rival Floyd Mayweather Jr..

Could fans finally witness a rematch between two of the sport’s most celebrated icons? The buzz intensified after Mayweather revealed last week that he is stepping out of retirement, reigniting talk of another blockbuster encounter with the Filipino legend.

Pacquiao fueled the excitement during the partnership signing between his Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League and SportsPlus on Monday in Mandaluyong. When asked about the prospect of facing Mayweather again, he kept his response brief but intriguing.

“Abangan niyo ang mga announcement,” Pacquiao said on the sidelines of the event.

Pressed for his thoughts on Mayweather’s comeback, the former eight-division world champion simply replied, “Good for us. Abangan niyo lang.”

While nothing has been officially confirmed, both fighters are preparing for separate exhibition bouts in April. Pacquiao is scheduled to step back into the ring on April 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, where he will face former junior welterweight world champion Ruslan Provodnikov.

Mayweather, on the other hand, is also lining up an exhibition match, this time against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather said in a statement, less than a year after Pacquiao also ended his retirement and fought Mario Barrios Jr. to a draw last July.

The two boxing superstars first met on May 2, 2015, in a highly anticipated clash promoted as the “Fight of the Century.” Staged at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Mayweather secured a unanimous decision victory with scores of 118-110, 116-112, and 116-112, improving his record to 48-0 at the time.

After the bout, Pacquiao disclosed that he had been battling shoulder problems during the fight, where Mayweather unified the WBC, WBA, and WBO welterweight championships.

With both legends returning to action, anticipation is building. Whether a sequel materializes or not, fans around the world are once again watching closely for what could be another historic chapter in boxing.
