Woman Left Expresses Frustration After Thief Steals P20,000 Worth of Cash & Belongings From Their While Sleeping
A woman was devastated after a thief steals P20, 000 worth of cash and belongings in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City, Rizal.
On early Sunday morning, February 8, 2026, a woman was left heartbroken after their home was robbed by an intruder who entered while the family was asleep. The incident was captured on CCTV, showing how quietly and boldly the suspect moved inside the house.
The video showed the thief slowly entering the family’s bedroom while everyone was in deep sleep. At one point, the suspect even fell to the floor but continued searching under the bed. He managed to grab a bag and hide it inside his clothing. Not stopping there, he took another bag placed near a sleeping child before quickly leaving the room.
The family only realized what happened the next morning. A blinking light from their cellphone was later understood to be a signal from their CCTV system detecting unusual activity. When the footage was checked, the family was shocked to see the intruder already inside their room.
The experience affected Mary Rose Bustamante, who said the incident left her traumatized, especially knowing her child was nearby during the theft.
The suspect was able to take three bags, two wallets, and a cellphone, with the total value of stolen items and cash reaching around P20,000. The family felt helpless and violated, describing their home as if it had been freely entered without fear.
The victims immediately reported the incident to the police. During the investigation, authorities identified the suspect as a resident of Barangay Mambugan who had previous records involving theft-related crimes.
Barangay officials also shared that the area is known as a passage for criminals due to poor lighting, though crime incidents had decreased during the implementation of curfews in the past.
The Antipolo Police, together with barangay officials, are now conducting follow-up operations to arrest the suspect. Authorities have also increased patrols and security measures in the area to help prevent similar incidents and protect residents from further harm.
