ABS-CBN superstar Vice Ganda has always been vocal about politics, especially the massive corruption, and this is the reason why.
A central figure during a rally against the massive corruption in flood control projects was Vice Ganda. She stood before a huge crowd to speak against this and even challenged President Bongbong Marcos to imprison all corrupt officials.
She is also vocal about the highly criticized PHP 500 Noche Buena budget claims of the trade department official. She is vocal about a lot of things, and she is unafraid.
In an interview, Vice explained that she does not fear losing endorsements for being politically vocal because she worked hard for many years to have this kind of freedom. She worked hard and saved enough to gain confidence to speak up against these matters, but apart from these, there’s a greater reason behind.
According to her, the wealth she earned through years of hard work in the industry would allow her to stay silent and live comfortably. However, having gone through countless hardships and life experiences, she chooses not to. She understands the struggles of ordinary people because she has lived them herself, and she knows just how difficult life can be in those circumstances.
Moreover, the people loved her and supported her. The public had given her a platform, and she knows the power of this. She recognizes the responsibility to use it for the Filipino people. While staying silent is an easier option, she chose not to pick it as her conscience would not allow her to remain silent.
“Hindi siya kaya ng konsensya ko kasi paano ‘yong mga nakapaligid sa ‘kin? At hindi rin kinakaya ng kaluluwa, konsensya ko ‘yong araw-araw na masang Pilipino na nakakausap ko sa ‘Showtime’ tapos wala ako pakialam sa kanila. Kasi sila may pakialam sa ‘kin, kaya may pakialam din ako sa kanila,” she said.
