Statement of Marcos Jr. on Flood Control Culprits Amid Calls for Accountability

MARCOS JR. – The President issued a warning to those who are involved in the flood control mess in the Philippines.

Countless Filipinos were left dismayed by the supposed multi-billion corruption in the government through the flood control projects. Not only some officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were dragged into the issue but as well as some senators and congressmen.

Last September 21, thousands of Filipinos were on the streets to protest against the supposed massive corruption in the country. A lot of celebrities in the showbiz industry joined the said protest actions that was called the ‘Trillion Peso March’.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte once again called for accountability on the corruption issues in the Philippines. According to her, only investigations are allegedly ongoing and the probes have yet to send anyone to jail.

The flood control investigation is led by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI. The three-member body was formed upon the order of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. amid the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country.

Recently, Marcos Jr. spoke anew on the corruption issue. The President issued a warning against the flood control culprits amid the calls for accountability. Based on a report on GMA News, he stressed that the government will really run after them.

“Tapos na ang maliligaya ninyong araw, hahabulin namin kayo,” the President said.

Marcos Jr. also expressed that many of those who are involved in the flood control mess in the country will be named before Christmas. Based on the report, he stressed that they will not have a merry Christmas.

“Alam ko bago mag-Pasko marami dito ang napangalanan dito… wala silang Merry Christmas,” he said.

The statement of Pres. Bongbong Marcos came after DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon claimed that over 40 flood control accused may be jailed this November.
