Elderly Woman Lost Her Life During Fight w/ Former Co-Worker in Taytay, Rizal
An elderly woman has lost her life during an intense fight with former co-worker in Taytay, Rizal, using a grinder.
On October 22, 2025 (Wednesday), a 70-year-old woman was found lifeless and covered in blood inside her room at her sister-in-law’s house in Barangay San Isidro, Taytay, Rizal, according to the Taytay Police.
Authorities identified the victim as Rosie Mon, who was attacked by her former co-worker, a 49-year-old woman who previously worked as a caregiver for a relative of Mon’s sister-in-law. Based on the investigation, Rosie had earlier offered the suspect a job as a laundry helper.
The suspect traveled from Rodriguez, Rizal to Taytay after agreeing to the offer.
However, the suspect admitted to the crime but claimed it was an act of self-defense. She told the police that an argument broke out when the victim allegedly said hurtful things about her and her family.
Feeling insulted and enraged, she repeatedly struck Rosie on the head with an electric grinder during their conversation in the early hours of October 22.
Police reports revealed that the victim suffered multiple blows, causing severe head injuries that led to her death due to hemorrhagic shock. Investigators believe the suspect hit the victim at least eight times.
The suspect was later arrested at her daughter’s house in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal. She expressed deep regret, saying she never intended for things to go that far.
“Pinalo po ako sa tuhod ng kahoy kaya po ako’y panay pasa. Tumalikod po ako, pagkaharap ko nagulat po ako may hawak-hawak siyang grinder, ‘yun po naagaw ko sakanya. Sakanya ko na po naipukpok, hindi ko na po mabilang. Parang nawala na rin po ako sa sarili ko nun,” the suspect said.
Rosie had worked as a house helper for 19 years and was described by her family as kind and hardworking. The victim is currently laid to rest in a chapel in Taytay, while the suspect faces charges of homicide.
