With regards to the Senate investigation, the upper chamber continued with its investigation. However, it has yet to resume its hearing since Senator Ping Lacson resigned from being the chairman of the Blue Ribbon Committee.

According to Senate Pres. Tito Sotto, Lacson is ‘frustrated’ over the remarks of their fellow senators on the investigation. Recently, contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya backed out from their cooperation with the ICI on the flood control probe. According to ICI executive director Keith Hosaka, it was after ICI member Rogelio Singson claimed in an interview that no one has yet to qualify to become a state witness.

Following the withdrawal of the controversial contractors from their cooperation with the ICI, Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that the Discayas are possibly protecting Sen. Bong Go. The name of the Senator was previously dragged into the issue due to a joint venture of the contractors with the construction firm owned by his father.

Recently, Sen. Bong Go broke his silence on allegation that the Discayas are possibly protecting him. Based on a post of News5 on social media, the Senator expressed his openness to any investigation. He stressed that he is not hiding anything.

“I welcome any investigation. Let the facts speak for themselves. Wala po akong tinatago. Wala po akong kinakatakutan dahil wala akong kasalanan. Hindi ako sangkot sa anumang anomalya. Ang aking tungkulin ay maglingkod sa bayan at hinding-hindi ko po sasayangin ang tiwalang binigay ng taumbayan,” he said.

During the press conference, Sen. Bong Go also stressed that he is one with the Filipino people in the “crusade against corruption”. He told Filipinos that he is one of those who fight against corruption and he asked the people not to allow the diversion from the truth.

“Tumbukin niyo po ‘yung dapat tumbukin. Hanapin niyo po ang dapat hanapin, ‘yung talagang mga totoong buwaya. ‘Yung mastermind talaga,” the Senator said.

Sen. Bong Go also stressed that he does not know the Discayas. The Senator also recalled his remark during a previous Senate flood probe saying that he’s interested to know about the alleged joint venture between them and the CLTG Builders.

According to Sen. Go, if someone is at fault, charges should be filed. Based on the post, he claimed that he is even willing to be the complainant even if the charges would be filed against his family member.

“Kung may pagkukulang, pagkakamali, kung anomalous o substandard, panagutin niyo… Willing po akong magkaso, kasuhan natin ‘yung mga dapat kasuhan, kahit kamag-anak ko. I’m willing to be the complainant kung talagang mayroon silang pagkukulang,” he expressed.

Sen. Bong Go also stressed that he does not care if charges will be filed against the Discayas if they committed a mistake. Amid the issue, Sarah and Curlee Discaya are facing a tax evasion complaint.
