ABS-CBN superstar Vice Ganda expresses powerful remarks about corrupt government officials and the effects of corruption.
The country is currently facing issues of widespread corruption that involves billions of taxpayers’ money. Many have spoken and lambasted the corrupt government officials, and a lot of famous personalities have been using their platforms to air their thoughts about the issue, echoing the public’s sentiments.
In the latest episode of It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda talked to 21-year-old contestant Ronron. The contestant had quite a difficult life, having to tend and work for himself at a young age of 14. This was in the “Laro Laro Pick” segment on “It’s Showtime,” and hearing his struggles, the superstar comedian saw a window of opportunity to speak out against corruption and point out how it affects the people.
“Ito ang mga ninanakawan. Diba? Ang korapsyon ay hindi lamang pagnanakaw ng salapi ng bayan. Ito ang pagnanakaw ng pag-asa, ito ay pagnanakaw ng pangarap, at ito ang pagnanakaw ng magandang posibilidad. Ang dami nang namatay dahil sa pagnanakaw niyo ng pondo ng bayan,” she said and added that because of stealing, a lot of people lost their lives because of lack of support from the government that is supposed to come from the taxpayers’ money.
Corruption is not just about stealing money. It is also robbing people of opportunities, theft of hope, and stealing the possibilities of a better future. Her remarks came amid growing public outrage over ghost flood-control projects and alleged kickbacks involving lawmakers and government officials.
These reasons and more are enough to get back to them by speaking up, voting for the right people, and not allowing for stealing to happen.
