PAGASA Says Southwest Monsoon to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that habagat will bring rains over Luzon and western Visayas.  

On Friday (September 5, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.  

PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Luzon and the western section of Visayas.

“It is still possible that we will have a period where these rains will be visible, but generally throughout the day or any time of day, the chance of rain, lightning, and thunder will still be very high,” Castañeda said.  

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains.  

That’s why our fellow countrymen should still take extra precautions against the threat of flooding and landslides,” she added.

Habagat will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Western Visayas.  

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to the severe thunderstorms.  

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over the northern section of Luzon and the remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.  

Cloud clusters were spotted in the western part of Northern Luzon inside the PAR may have a chance to develop into an LPA in the next few hours.    

The weather agency reported that no tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas are being monitored inside or outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
